Shared Values and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging
In 2023, ConGlobal was named one of “America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity” by Newsweek. We are proud of this accomplishment. As a company, we have long prioritized fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout our lines of business.
The pandemic has shown us that, in our interdependent world, no one is safe until everyone is safe. The crisis uprooted existing assumptions about addressing worker safety, health, and well-being and doing it more holistic way.
Historically these activities were primarily siloed. Workplace safety programs focused on designing work to protect workers from physical harm, and HR championed wellness and well-being. Like many companies, we have strived to integrate the two fields—protecting and promoting health—because they work together in a single workplace.
The conversation has changed around workers’ classic social issues like childcare, sick leave, disability issues, and overall wellness challenges like mental health and work-life balance. These issues are important to acknowledge because employees want to work for companies that see them as people, not workers; jobs provide an exceptional life experience, not just work, and they want to feel cared for and valued.
Diversity includes. Inclusion empowers. And when everybody belongs, together we can do our best work.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion matter because people matter. For companies to evolve, innovate, and problem-solve, workplaces must welcome individuals with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives that bring new ideas.
Many feel like something is missing from the DE&I equation; it’s belonging. As human beings, one of our deepest desires is to belong. We all want to feel seen, heard and understood.
A sense of belonging doesn’t just feel nice; it’s central to a healthy, vibrant culture.
Belonging is a powerful force that helps employees see how they fit into a company’s goals and vision on every level. As employers seek new and better ways to hire and retain workers in one of human history’s tightest labor markets, a shared sense of belonging can make or break their culture.
